Responses to the EMA, Grant Funding, and Industry Networking

A lot has been happening at Bioceltix recently. We are engaged in a constructive dialogue with the European Medicines Agency, sharing the Bioceltix story at key industry events, and gratefully receiving further important recognitions.

We have been visiting Kraków, Bruges, the WallStreet Conference in Karpacz, and EquiMental in Warsaw. Each of these events provides an excellent opportunity for direct conversations and meaningful meetings. And if we did not have the chance to meet in person this time, we invite you to take a brief look at the latest news and key developments from Bioceltix.

 

We have recently completed another important step toward the registration of BCX-CM-J and its market launch. As part of the ongoing regulatory procedure, we responded to questions from the European Medicines Agency (EMA). By 15 July, we expect to receive additional clarification questions from the regulator. Their review will help us better estimate the timeline for completing the entire process. We currently assume that a positive recommendation for our canine osteoarthritis treatment may be issued around the turn of the year. Progress in the EMA procedure, combined with very strong clinical trial results, brings us closer to introducing the world’s first veterinary medicinal product based on canine stem cells. At the same time, we are increasingly able to focus on the development of BCX-EM for horses, which has also entered the EMA registration pathway. | Read more

Atopic dermatitis is a chronic and burdensome condition that significantly affects the quality of life of both animals and their caregivers. At Bioceltix, we are working on solutions that could bring meaningful relief to companion animals, which is why we are pleased to announce another important step forward. Our project focused on developing a cell-free therapy for canine atopic dermatitis has received a positive evaluation from the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR) under the SMART Path (FENG) programme. The project aims to develop a therapeutic product based on biomolecules secreted by mesenchymal stem cells. We believe their anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties may open new treatment possibilities for canine AD. The project has been recommended for funding of more than PLN 15.1 million. While the formal agreement process still lies ahead, we already view this decision as an important validation of our research programme’s potential. | Read more

We have also recently presented highly encouraging results for BCX-EM-AD, our cell-based therapy being developed for the treatment of canine atopic dermatitis. After a single administration, nearly half of the treated patients continued to demonstrate a therapeutic response 168 days later, with benefits lasting at least six months. This suggests that a single dose may provide reductions in skin lesions and itching comparable to those achieved through at least six months of monoclonal antibody treatment. Importantly, the highest level of improvement was observed toward the end of the study period. We therefore consider it reasonable to hypothesize that the therapeutic effect may last even longer. | Read more

With such promising prospects ahead, we are increasingly looking across the Atlantic. The United States is the largest and one of the fastest-growing animal health markets in the world, with forecasts indicating continued strong growth through at least 2030. To support our ambitions, we have signed an agreement with a specialized advisor who will assist us in preparing for the introduction of Bioceltix products to the U.S. market. The cooperation includes the development of a regulatory strategy, preparation of documentation, and support in discussions with the FDA Center for Veterinary Medicine (FDA/CVM). This is an important step toward registering our therapies in the United States and laying the foundations for future commercialization in one of the world’s most attractive animal health markets. | Read more

We also have news that makes us particularly proud. This year, we once again reached the podium in the “Stock Exchange Company of the Year” ranking. In the 27th edition of the survey organized by Puls Biznesu, analysts and fund managers awarded us the highest score in the “Growth Prospects” category. We also placed third in both “Most Innovative Products and Services” and “Investor Relations.” Once again, we ranked among the top companies overall, securing a place in the Top 3 of the general classification. As always, we conclude with a look at the world of veterinary biotechnology. Here are a few developments worth keeping on your radar:

The market is increasingly preparing for the commercialization of cell therapies. This trend is reflected in the actions of companies developing such solutions. Biotechnology company Gallant and MWI Animal Health have announced the creation of an ultra-low-temperature logistics network dedicated to veterinary clinics in the United States. The infrastructure will support the distribution of products requiring storage at −80°C and establish the foundation for future sales of Gallant’s off-the-shelf cell therapies following FDA approval. This is yet another sign that the industry is preparing not only for the development of innovative therapies but also for their broad commercial deployment. Gallant recently reported positive pilot study results for a feline osteoarthritis product and received eligibility for the FDA’s Expanded Conditional Approval pathway. | Read more

Veterinary biotechnology is also making significant advances in the field of longevity. U.S.-based company Loyal has raised USD 100 million to accelerate the regulatory process for LOY-002, a therapy designed for senior dogs. The product targets metabolic pathways associated with aging and aims to extend healthy lifespan. According to Loyal’s management, the company is moving closer to launching the first FDA-approved drug specifically intended to extend healthy life in dogs. The newly raised capital will help fulfill remaining regulatory requirements and prepare the company for commercialization. This is another example of the rapid growth of emerging segments within veterinary biotechnology. | Read more

New technologies may soon make the diagnosis of lameness in horses faster and more accessible. Researchers at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover have presented an innovative “smart hoof boot” equipped with pressure sensors and motion-tracking technology. The system simultaneously analyzes forces acting on the hoof and a horse’s movement patterns in natural conditions. In conducted studies, the results closely matched those obtained using specialized diagnostic platforms currently employed in lameness assessment. Furthermore, the solution successfully distinguished affected limbs from healthy ones and enabled the evaluation of post-treatment improvements. In the future, technologies of this kind may facilitate earlier detection of joint diseases and improve treatment monitoring in routine veterinary practice. | Read more
