Another round of the free spay program for female dogs is launching in Wroc\u0142aw, organized by a local biotechnology company. The initiative gives guardians a real opportunity to have the procedure performed without covering its full cost, while also helping to reduce the problem of dog homelessness in the capital of Lower Silesia. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Who is eligible, and which dogs can be enrolled?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The program is addressed to guardians of female dogs aged 12 to 36 months, weighing at least 15 kilograms, and not previously bred. Dogs adopted from shelters also qualify, provided they have been in their new home for at least one month.<\/p>\n

A good overall health condition and microchipping are required. If the dog has not yet been microchipped, the organizer will also cover the cost of identification.<\/p>\n

Procedures will take place in March and April at selected veterinary clinics in and around Wroc\u0142aw. Admission to the program depends on meeting the eligibility criteria and the order of applications received, so organizers encourage early registration.<\/p>\n

\u201cAwareness among guardians about their animals\u2019 health needs is growing. We\u2019re pleased that we can expand access to free procedures, because spaying a female dog is unfortunately an expensive operation, currently costing close to 1,000 PLN. Not every guardian can afford it. Yet it is a very important preventive health measure: it reduces the risk of reproductive system diseases and significantly contributes to a longer and healthier life for the animal. We have a limited number of places available, so it\u2019s worth applying as soon as possible,\u201d says Pawe\u0142 Wielgus of Bioceltix.<\/p>\n

What does the free package include?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The program provides comprehensive veterinary care. As part of it, doctors perform a standard ovariohysterectomy \u2014 the removal of the uterus and ovaries under general anesthesia. This is followed by post-operative care until the dog regains consciousness, including pain relief medication and an antibiotic. A follow-up visit is also included, with suture removal if necessary.<\/p>\n

In addition, organizers offer a package of post-surgery diagnostic tests, giving guardians a broader picture of their dog\u2019s health. If the female dog does not have a microchip, identification will also be performed within the program.<\/p>\n

Before the planned surgery, however, the owner must carry out basic qualifying tests. The cost is approximately 90 PLN.<\/p>\n

The scientific dimension of the initiative<\/strong><\/p>\n

The organizers emphasize that the campaign goes beyond financial support for guardians. It also has a social and educational impact. Sterilization helps limit uncontrolled breeding and thus reduces the risk of shelter overcrowding.<\/p>\n

\u201cSpaying significantly reduces the risk of mammary gland cancer. Another important argument in favor of the procedure is limiting uncontrolled breeding. If we fail to monitor this issue, shelters may become overcrowded and the number of unwanted, homeless animals may increase,\u201d adds Pawe\u0142 Wielgus.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the initiative supports the development of innovative veterinary therapies. The company uses biological waste generated during sterilization procedures for research and development work on treatments for atopic dermatitis and osteoarthritis \u2014 conditions commonly diagnosed in dogs.<\/p>\n

The entire process is supervised by the relevant institutions, including the Main Pharmaceutical Inspectorate and the European Medicines Agency, and organizers assure that it does not affect the safety of the animals in any way.<\/p>\n

Applications for the \u201cSterilization Campaign with Bioceltix\u201d are accepted via a form available on the company\u2019s website. After verification, organizers inform the guardian about the dog\u2019s qualification, as well as the date and location of the procedure. Recruitment continues until all available places are filled.<\/p>\n
